Ephesians 1:15-17: Pastor Josh illustrates Paul's instruction to the Ephesians on prayer, highlighting that in these three short verses, we learn why we pray, when to pray, what to pray and to whom to pray.
The sermon is preceded by scripture readings of Psalm 5 and Luke 11:1-13.
Jesus is Immanuel--but more than “God with us,” Jesus is “God became us”! This matters because the Incarnation makes it possible for Jesus to deliver us from sin and death and for him to intercede for us. If it weren’t for the event that Christmas signifies, we would be lost. But praise be to God for sending his Son to be our Savior!
The LORD’s ruler will rise from death to rule in righteousness, ushering in peace, the knowledge of God, and great praise and rejoicing.
The LORD’s ruler, who sits eternally on David’s throne, will turn his people’s gloom into rejoicing. He will turn their obscurity into fame. He will do this be executing justice and righteousness.
In the face of international calamities hitting close to home, God’s people must not look for refuge in the nations of earth. Instead, God’s people rest in Immanuel. God’s people must not be unsettled by fear. Instead, they must rest in Immanuel
